Building a Strong Risk Culture

Here at Mission 100% we fully believe that strong student achievement begins with teacher mindset. The right teacher mindset about kids, and their students’ ability and desire to achieve at high levels, has a huge impact on the culture they build in their classrooms throughout the year.  And while this is certainly an ongoing process, the beginning of the year is the best time to both think strategically about the messages that want to send to kids, and intentionally plan how you will be doing this.

One of these pieces, which those at KIPP Metro Atlanta refer to as a strong ‘Risk Culture’, is all about building a classroom culture that believes in student growth, teaches students about a growth mindset, and then makes instructional decisions every day that reinforces this belief.  This week’s Video of the Week is just one clip from a new collection we’ve created called ‘Risk Culture’, which features a variety of clips that expose first and foremost the teacher mindset, but then examples of how they intentionally build this culture in their classrooms.

Head on over to the Mission 100% video library to find more, and head to the Collections section.  And as always, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions for new Collections!
