Why Differentiate? (And a quick example)

Differentiation is a tricky thing to capture on camera. Usually a lot of it is done in the planning process, and during class it can mean students are working on different assignments for IP, multiple teachers are delivering content in different ways at the same time, and sometimes it’s exactly what work is assigned to each student at each portion of the lesson. We’re working on figuring out how to best capture and share, but it’s tricky.
So while visiting a bunch of classrooms at KIPP Metro Atlanta schools throughout the city last week, we got a chance to sit down with the incredible differentiator Taisian Taylor who not only re-emphasized the importance of ‘the why’, but also left us with one concrete example you can use in your classroom starting tomorrow.
